New malthouse in MEOQUI : foundational stone ceremony
Country
Andras BOGYAY, North America Chief Operation Officer and Manager of that important project, tells us a little bit more about that special day :
"It was a great day, especially because among the participants we had the honor to welcome our main project stakeholders, including Oliver Miaux, Patrick Bordessoule, the mayor of Meoqui city Ms. Miriam Soto, the representatives of our main customer Heineken, and the management of our main project contractors, along with our local team.
The speeches, very much appreciated by our visitors, highlighted the involvement and local commitment of MALTEUROP, both in its economic and its sustainable development policies on this new site.
We will continue the dialogue with our local partners for the success of this strategic project.
Finally, a big thank you to our local team for this beautiful and important day."
Gustavo STRASSER, MALTEUROP North America General Manager
”The foundational stone ceremony in Meoqui highlighted Malteurop’s commitment to the brewing industry growth in Mexico.
On the other hand, it was also a meaningful event in many ways. It was encouraging to see our key partners participate in the symbolic event and also the local authorities welcoming the project.
With this project, Malteurop support and contributes to local economic development.
It translates into the creation of new jobs and opportunities for farmers in the Méoqui region, with whom we work in partnership to use 100% local malting barley.
As we said during the event: Malteurop is an international company but totally involved as a local actor! "
Patrick BORDESSOULE, MALTEUROP Chief Excutiv Officer
"The project to build our new MEOQUI malting plant is both a tremendous project for the development of our activities and our partnership with one of the world's leading brewers, but also represents a real global integration project in the country and the CHIHUAHUA region.
Indeed, we are not only talking about additional capacity, but about the establishment of MALTEUROP in the MEXICAN ecosystem:
- 100% of the construction is carried out by Mexican companies with Mexican employees (350 to date)
- 100% of the barley will be produced locally by Mexican farmers within a radius of 200 kilometers from the factory
- 100% of our teams, both for the coordination of the construction (4 to date) and for the future operational management of the site (60p), are Mexicans
Our participation in this day, was the opportunity to reaffirm our strategy in the presence of the local MEOQUI authorities.
This project illustrates one of the Group's strong values: its local roots.
Being present abroad also means being local in all the countries in which we operate."
