A word from Olivier Parent, C.E.O.

Now more than ever, all eyes are on the future of the planet

A future that promises to be both bright, as the prospects and technological advances are promising, and worrying, given the great challenge of tackling climate change, which we will have to face together. The commitments made by world leaders at the COP21 (Conference of the Parties), in Paris in 2015, set a clear objective of limiting global warming to well below 2°C compared to the pre-industrial period. Climate change is everyone’s business; communities, companies, and individuals.

Malteurop fully subscribes to this ambition and intends to affirm and demonstrate it loud and clear. As a major player in our industry, as well as a link in a chain that connects farmers to consumers, we must not only act responsibly, above all, we must act sustainably to ensure our capacity to work for the long term, for our stakeholders; our customers, our employees, our shareholders, and our suppliers. If we want to be around tomorrow, we must protect our ecosystem and preserve our resources, for ourselves and for future generations.

So, with great humility, this is what we strive toward every day, locally, in our 14 countries, and globally, to ensure consistent practices, equal opportunity and treatment for all, and transparency vis-à-vis our stakeholders. CSR is an integral part of our strategy because it must be part of everything we do.

In this first Malteurop Group CSR report, you will find the fruit of our reflections, our convictions, our priorities, and our roadmap. We also give the floor to outsiders, because this report is also and above all intended for those with whom we interact, because we have to pull in the same direction. I will conclude with this quote from French philosopher, Henri Bergson, which summarizes our mindset:

"The future is not what comes next, but what we plan to do"

I hope you enjoy reading it.
